James Dwight Ray, 75, of Gainesville passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Harley Ingram, Rev. Gary Huff and Rev. Jeremy Pass will officiate. Interment will be in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, April 15, 2019 and on Tuesday, April 16th from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Born on January 7, 1945 in Gainesville he was the son of the late Edward and Trudy Mae Ray. He was retired from the Hall County Board of Education where he worked in the Maintenance Department. Mr. Ray was a member of the Gainesville First Church of the Nazarene. He was a member of Lanier Lions Club.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ray is preceded in death by his brothers, Larry and Gene Ray and sister Doris Elrod.
Mr. Ray is survived by his wife, Kathy Ray of Gainesville; son and daughter in law, Jeffery and Dana Ray of Flowery Branch; granddaughter, Emily Ray; special pet, Gizmo; brothers in law and sisters in law, Philip and Teresa Strickland of Jefferson, Rev. Harley and Elaine Ingram of Oakwood, Wayne and Becky Pass of Gainesville, Richard and Deborah Lagasse of Flowery Branch and several nieces and nephews.
