Robert Anthony "Tony" Sosebee

Robert Anthony “Tony” Sosebee, age 77 of Clarkesville, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 28, 2019.

Born in Clarkesville, Georgia on September 1, 1941, he was a son of the late Ernest and Claudia Ione Gastley Sosebee. Tony was retired as a Vice President of United Community Bank with over 32 years of service. He also served in various roles in the White County Kiwanis Club for many years. Tony was a member of the Clarkesville Baptist Church for over 59 years where he served on the deacon board, as a former music director, and helped with the organization of Helen First Baptist Church in White County.   

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Torrey Sosebee; brothers, Dewey Sosebee James H. Sosebee and Charles E. Sosebee; sisters, Evelyn Tanksley, Grace Burton, Annette Tench and Christine Spivey.

Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, Linda Dover Sosebee of Clarkesville; son and daughter-in-law, Todd & Rena Sosebee of Cleveland; grandchildren, David & Kailey Sosebee of Atlanta, Jenna & Stetson Gearin, Brooke Sosebee & Breanna Sosebee all of Cleveland; great grandson, Waylon Gearin; sister Gail Kastner of Powder Springs; sister-in-law, Julie Sosebee of Chicago, Illinois several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm, Sunday, March 31, 2019 in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Grady Walden officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that all donations be made in memory of Tony to the Clarkesville Baptist Church.
