Mrs. Dola Porter Butler, age 86, of Dahlonega passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019.
Mrs. Butler was born in Lumpkin County on July 17, 1932 to the late Clayton and Kathleen Woodward Porter. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Wallace Butler and brother Neil Porter. Mrs. Butler worked at Burlington Industries (Pinetree) for many years. She then worked as a secretary at the Hall County Mental Health Center until she retired. She lived life as a young lady watching dirt track racing and riding motorcycles, and as a mom taking her daughter on beach vacations. Mrs. Butler loved to shop. When her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Grandma”, began to arrive she retired early so she could enjoy watching them play sports and grow up. Mrs. Butler was a member of Etowah Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Jack White, Murrayville; grandchildren Jonathan and Jennifer White, Murrayville, Whitney and Jason Dockery, Cleveland, and Lacey and Adam Johnson, Dahlonega; great-grandchildren Cole White, Clara White, Reece Dockery, Kinsey Dockery, Bryce Dockery, Cade Dockery, Kaitlyn Johnson, and Adalyn Johnson; brother and sister-in-law Scott and Rose Porter, Cartersville; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled for 4:00 PM Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Etowah Baptist Church. The Rev. Sam Rawlings will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
