Edna Jennie Gowder Elrod

Edna Jennie Gowder Elrod, age 90 of Clarkesville, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 18, 2019.

Born in Homer, Georgia on January 22, 1929, Mrs. Elrod lived most of her life in Habersham County. She was a daughter of the late William Edward Gowder & India Parsons Gowder. Mrs. Elrod was a homemaker, member of Clarkesville Baptist Church, board member of Victory Home, active in her Bridge Club, and very involved in her community.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Walter Elrod, 4 sisters, 2 brothers, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Survivors include son & daughter-in-law, Seth W. & Shoney Elrod of Anderson, SC; daughter and son-in-law, Athena & Keith Whitlow of Hilton Head Island, SC; grandchildren, Courtney & Matt Timen of Bluffton, SC; Anna Katherine Elrod of Wilmington, NC; Seth Adam & Shanna Elrod of Canton, OH; Jennie Olivia Elrod of Wilmington, NC; step-grandsons, Thomas Chadwick Sugg of Cane Ridge, TN; Corey Braden & Amy Sugg of Louisville, KY; step- great granddaughters, Anna Caroline Sugg & Ruby Kate Sugg

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2019 at Clarkesville Baptist Church with Rev. Grady Walden & Dr. Jerome Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery in Lula, Georgia.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
