Dorothy “Dot” Skelton Edwards, age 94, of Demorest, Georgia passed away on March 8, 2019 at her residence after a brief illness.
Mrs. Edwards was born on May 10, 1924 in Habersham County, Georgia to the late Alvin and Maude Skelton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Edwards; daughter, Karol Lynn Flanders; brother, Lewis Skelton; and sister, Flossie Skelton Black. Mrs. Edwards was a loyal and active member of Habersham Baptist Church for over 30 years. She was a homemaker, as well as a devoted wife, and a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Survivors include her loving son, Dennis Michael Edwards and Jeannie, of Cumming; son-in-law, Donald Flanders, of Hewitt, TX; sister, Margie Skelton McCollum, of Clarkesville; grandchildren and spouses, Richard P. Edwards and Brooke, of Gainesville; Michelle Edwards Childs and Kenneth, of Gainesville; great-grandchildren, Ella Edwards, Emmy Edwards, and Fincher Childs, all of Gainesville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Habersham Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Porter and Rev. Tim Burpee officiating. Interment will follow in the Clarkesville City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel.
