John C. Cavaness

John C. Cavaness, age 83, of Duluth, GA passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2019. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Linda Jeffries Cavaness, Duluth, GA; children, John Andrew Cavaness, Pell City, AL, Gina Maria Coakley, Flowery Branch, GA, Patrick Sean and Garinda Coakley, Duluth, GA; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Carmen Cavaness, California, and Bob and Patricia Cavaness, California. Mr. Cavaness was born August 15, 1935 in Indianapolis, IN.  He was a graduate of Lynwood High School, Lynnwood, CA and graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor’s Degree. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marines and a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Norcross, GA. He was retired from the New York Times newspaper as a Director of Circulation. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with military honors. Flowers will be accepted.
