Janice May, resident of Buford, died Saturday, March 2, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest J. (Jack) May (August 12, 1998). She is survived by a son, Forrest J. May, Jr. and his wife, Marilee, and daughter, Jessica. She is also survived by a daughter, Marsha May Janofsky and her husband, Matthew Janofsky, and son Michael and his wife Cydney.
Mrs. May attended the University of Georgia, where she received a degree in Journalism and met her husband. She also received a Master's degree in English Education from Emory University. She chose a career in education, teaching English at Druid Hills High School, leaving her career for the birth of her children. After raising her children, she continued her career teaching English and sponsoring the yearbook and newspaper at Shamrock High School in Dekalb County, retiring there many years later. Mrs. May was a member of the First Baptist Church of Buford, where she was a member of the Daisy Shadburn Bykota Sunday School Class, the Silverstone Choir, and Abundant Life Fellowship.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m., one hour before the service at the funeral home.
