Dorothy "Dot" Hicks Reed

Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Hicks Reed, age 86, of Swift Street in Toccoa, Georgia passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Stephens County Hospital. 

A daughter of the late Lonnie Fulton Hicks and Willie Martin Hicks, she was born February 3, 1933 in Franklin County, Georgia having lived most of her life in Toccoa.  She was a supervisor at Toccoa Garment where she retired after twenty-seven and a half years of service. She later worked for Coats and Clark for over nine years and also at the Stephens County Hospital Snack Bar for fifteen years. Mrs. Reed was a member at Tates Creek Baptist Church and attended Sunnyside Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Reed, by three brothers, Ray Hicks, Wade Hicks, and Bill Hicks, by a sister, Frances Moore, a son, Steve Reed, and by a daughter, Marsha Dodd. 

Mrs. Reed is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Kay Reed of Toccoa, three daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and John Dean of Toccoa, Judy Mack of Franklin, North Carolina, and Sandy and Jason Sullens of Toccoa, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, three sisters, Ruby Williams and Bobbie Green both of Toccoa, and Betty Bevins of North Carolina, two brothers, Ed Hicks and Maurice Hicks both of Toccoa, by a special sister-in-law, Pauline Hicks, and by a number of nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, March 4, 2019, 2:00 P.M., at the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with Reverend Roy Rogers and Reverend Roger Elrod officiating.

The following gentlemen have been selected to serve pallbearers, Jeff Fogle, Keith Griffin, Don Griffin, Jimmy Hicks, Mike Ivester, and Dennis Hicks.  Pallbearers, please assemble at the funeral home by 1:30 p.m. Monday.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
