Myrtie Lee Gunter Turner

Myrtie Lee Gunter Turner, 86, of Chicopee, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 following an extended illness.

Funeral service will be held  at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Carrie Harper Myers officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.

Born on March 6, 1932 in Winder, she was the daughter of the late J.T. and Charlotte Gilleland Gunter.  Mrs. Turner was raised in Chicopee Village and one of only 2 original families to still live in the Village. She graduated from Gainesville High School in 1949. She was a lifelong member of Chicopee United Methodist Church where she was the organist for over 50 years and was a member of UMW. She worked for Johnson & Johnson and retired after 40 plus years of service in payroll. She loved her grandchildren and loved spending time on her front porch watching the village activities.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Turner is preceded in death by her husband, Howard William Turner and her brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Turner is survived by her son and daughter in law, Wayne and Candace Tapp Turner of Clermont; son, Dwight Turner of Chicopee; granddaughter and husband, Melissa Turner Greenwalt (Ryan); grandson, Alexander Davis Turner; granddaughter, Tiffany Danielle Turner and a number of other relatives.
