Estelle Marie Ramey Morris, loving mother of four children, passed away at the age of 92 on Friday February 22, 2019.
Estelle was born in Oconee County, South Carolina on April 11, 1926 to Gus and Estella Ramey and was the youngest of five children. She graduated from Westminster High School in 1944. Estelle married John Watson Morris on April 18, 1952 and they had four children, Wayne, James, Linda and Peggy. She was a homemaker for several years and then went to work at Coats and Clark, working there for over 20 years. Estelle was a long time member of Carnes Creek Baptist Church. She cared for her husband who suffered from Alzheimer’s for 10 years; he passed away in 1996. After caring for John, she took care of the elderly and the sick for several more years. Above all, Estelle was a caretaker of people.
She loved anything outdoors, planting flowers and vegetables and cutting her two acres of grass. You would often see her walking and making sure that her small community of Carnes Creek was free from trash and debris. Estelle was truly an amazing woman.
Estelle was preceded in death by her father, Gus, her mother, Estella, her husband, John, her daughter, Peggy, her sister, Lillie, her brothers, Roy, Julius and Willie. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Wayne and Laura Morris, James and Kathy Morris, and Linda and Kenneth Hill, her ten grandchildren and spouses, Bolin Morris, Josiah Morris, Michael Morris, Marie and David Nelsen, Jim and Rebecca Higginbotham, Terry Hill, Kevin and Vicheny Hill, Lindsay and Jadie Hatcher, Ethan and Savannah Walker, Nicole and Edward Lanier and ten great grandchildren.
