Marion Bonds Evans

Obituary Date: Thursday, February 14, 2019

Mrs. Marion Bonds Evans was born January 9, 1933 in Gillsville, GA to the late Paul Bonds and Fannie Cox Bonds. She departed her earthly life on the evening of February 14, 2019 peacefully at Landmark Hospital after a short illness.
At an early age, she gave her life to Christ and strived to do His will daily. She always exemplified the love of Christ by helping others anyways she could. One of her greatest passions was to get her family together for annual holiday feasts.
In 1954, she was united in Holy Matrimony for Reverend John W. Evans Jr. Until her death, they celebrated 65 years of marital bliss. Together they served multiple churches through pastoral leadership. She served as First Lady for over 30 years. Even while supporting her husband through ministry, Mrs. Evans loved to serve people. She was a professional care taker for many many years. She was preceded in death by her parents Paul Bonds and Fannie Cox Bonds; three sisters: Edna Harrison, Pauline Harrison both of Gainesville, GA, Mary Lene Lott of Athens, GA; three brothers: Leonard Bonds, Curtis Bonds, Marvin Bonds all of Gainesville, GA and one daughter-in-law, Barbara Evans.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband, Reverend John W. Evans, Jr., five children: Roger Evans, Jimmy (Cecelia) Evans, Miranda Brown all of Gainesville, GA, Tobias (Jackie) Evans of Rex, GA, and Teresa (Charles) Mays of Ellenwood, GA; three sisters: Kathleen Bonds, Beatrice (George) Sturdivant and Vera Brown all of Gainesville, GA; thirteen grandchildren: Quanisha (James) Skelton, Torey (Ca’Quea) Evans, LaTysa (Tim) Gaither, Shamone Evans, Jimmy “JJ” Evans, Jr., Brandon Evans, Tawana Brown, Lacey Hutchinson, Rhonda Mitchell, Tobias Evans, Jr., Taylor Evans, Trey Evans, Durun Mays and Douglas Law; twenty great grandchildren, a host nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws, and sister-in-laws; special friends: Betty Hopkins, Louise Goudlock, Ola Mae Evans, Earnestine Bonds and Joan Livingston.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Antioch Baptist Church, 1010 Mill Street, Gainesville, GA 30501 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held at Antioch Baptist Church on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 between the hours of 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Professional Services Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
