Walton Alton Gilleland

Walton Alton Gilleland, age 87, of Alpharetta, GA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Autumn Leaves Assisted Living Facility in Alpharetta, GA. Walton was born in 1931, to the late Bunion Vernon and Lillie Mae Gilleland. He was a member of Hightower Baptist Church. While attending there, he held the positions of deacon, singing in the choir and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of IBEW #613.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Ed, Sam, and Roger Gilleland; and sister, Dorothy Pruitt.

Walton is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Peggy Gilleland; sons, Steven Gilleland and his fiancé, Debbie McAdory, and Jeff (Rita) Gilleland; 3 grandchildren, Leslie (Matthew) Hucks, Caleb (Christie) Gilleland,  and Hannah (Joseph) Ridley; 6 great grandchildren, Jackson, Dylan, Tyler, Kaylee, Logan and Walton; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Watkins, and Atholine (Herman) Wilkie; brother and sister-in-law, Gene (Jo) Gilleland; along with many other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Walton will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Hightower Baptist Church in Ball Ground, GA, with Rev. Ronnie McCormick and Rev. Gerral Richards officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
