Alice Janette Barfield

Alice Janette Barfield, age 83, of Cumming, GA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 5, 2019. Janette was born in 1935, to the late W.H. and Agnes Coleman. She was an active member of Cumming Baptist Church. While attending there, she served as the church clerk and was a part of the choir, Joy Sunday school class and the food bank. Janette was a member of the Cumminettes, which is the ladies auxiliary of the Shrine Temple. She was the past president of the Forsyth County Board of Realtors. Janette worked as a real estate agent and broker for 43 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Lewis and Audrey Coleman.

Janette lives on through her loving husband of 62 years, Sidney Shiver Barfield; children and their spouses, Stacey Barfield Posey (Rick), Stephanie Alane Holton (Gary), Darice Barfield Shiver, and Tameir Powell; grandchildren, Cassandra Lynne-Alane Holton, Jacob Brittain Baker, Samantha Grace Barfield Posey, Maggie Alice Shiver, and Ellen Jones; sister-in-law, Ruby Elzey Coleman; nephews and their spouses, Bobby Walker (Marilynn), and Christopher Walker (Carolyn); Nieces and their spouses, Deena Coleman, and Kelley Coleman Kimbral (Eric); special friends, Michael and Patsy Archer, and Nieta and Richard Arwood; along with many other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Janette will be held Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Cumming Baptist Church in Cumming, GA, with Rev. Jamie Archer officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cumming Baptist Church in memory of Janette Barfield.
