Kendle Mae Baggarly, age 8, found her heavenly home in the early morning hours of January 31, 2019.
Kendle was born on October 27, 2010 in Atlanta, GA to parents Wade and Kristi Baggarly. Born with Aicardi Syndrome, Kendle proved at an early age that she was determined to beat the odds. Her feisty spirit helped her to overcome many developmental challenges and she often did it with a smile or “told you so” look. Without ever saying a word, she was able to make a large statement in this world. She was a member of Georgia’s Hope advocacy group in 2014-15 and was extremely active in advocating for medical cannabis to treat seizures. She was able to change hearts in the state legislature with her story and infectious smile. She participated in multiple medical trials including one for Epidiolex at New York University and a new gait training protocol at Georgia State University. Kendle was a proud Marlin with the Forsyth County Miracle League. She loved the pool, to ride horses at hippo therapy, exploring, her bedtime books, bath time and especially playing with her sisters and friends. She was also a foodie who had an insatiable appetite. Elton John’s Tiny Dancer could calm most any storm that came her way; and her belly laugh could lighten the darkest of days. That precious laugh will be missed by so many.
Kendle is survived by her parents, Wade and Kristi; her sisters, Annie Lynn (10) and Kimber (5); her paternal grandmother, Bonnie Silsby (Art); maternal grandparents, Robert and Barbara Kutchback, Paternal great-grandparents Floy Baggarly and Orvin and Carole Bergman; her uncles Lee Baggarly and Kevin (Stephanie) Kutchback and her cousin Britton Baggarly. She has many more extended family members who love her dearly. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Marcus Baggarly and her paternal great-grandfather, JB Baggarly, both of whom were waiting for her with open arms.
Visitation will take place Thursday February 7, 2019 from 5-8:00 PM at McDonald & Son funeral home and Friday February 8, 2019 from 12:00-2:00 PM. A procession to Kendle’s church home, The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, will follow to attend a 3:00 service. All are invited to attend.
As an expression of sympathy, the family is requesting donations to The Aicardi Syndrome Foundation or to Sisu Integrated Early Learning in Gainesville, GA. Kendle attended Sisu (formerly Challenged Child and Friends, Inc) from the time she was 6 weeks old to age 4 and the family credits this school for much of her early progress.
