Guylyn Virginia Matthews

    Mrs. Guylyn Virginia Matthews, age 85 of Flowery Branch, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

            Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, February 3, 2019 at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Dr. Larry Finger will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home.

            Mrs. Matthews was born July 22, 1933 in Charleston, South Carolina to the late Guy Austin Carpenter and Lucy Logan Carpenter.  She was retired from Jackson EMC as a bookkeeper and was of the Baptist Faith.  Guylyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, L. Roger Matthews, her sister, Pamela Fowler and her daughter-in-law, Denise Matthews.

            Mrs. Matthews is survived by her children, Roger Alan & Mary Smith Matthews of Gainesville, Guy Webster Matthews of Carnesville and Teresa Lynn & Roger Dale Odle of Gainesville, grandchildren, Jessie Matthews, Rachel Morley, Ashley Drake, Tyler Matthews, Whitney Matthews, Abby Odle and Matthew Odle, 2 great-grandchildren and a number of family and friends.
