Gloria Harris, age 81, of Suwanee, Georgia passed away Friday, January 25, 2019. Gloria was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Roy Harris; children Terry Harris (Theresa), Eileen Syfert (Gary), Kim Barnett (Glenn); grandchildren, Katie Ash (Will), Elizabeth Syfert, Emily Harris, Andrew Harris (all of metro Atlanta); sister Pam Thompson (Melvin) of Tifton.
Gloria was raised in Omega, GA by her parents, Ralph and Georgia Moody, where she attended Omega Elementary and Omega High. She lived in Omega until she moved to Atlanta at the age of 18 to attend The Georgia Baptist School of Nursing.
Gloria was kind, warm and a great conversationalist. She had the ability to make everyone she met feel like a friend. She was creative and enjoyed sewing, reading, painting and arranging flowers. She was happiest spending time with her family and celebrating life events together with her children and grandchildren. Her family enjoyed her cooking and will especially miss her macaroni and cheese, “grandmommie sandwiches,” and yummy desserts.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019, in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour before the service and also request your attendance at a reception immediately following the service. The reception will be held at the Grand Cascades Clubhouse, 151 Rivergate Drive, Suwanee, GA 30024.
