Barbara Lucille (Hudson) Rutherford

Barbara Lucille (Hudson) Rutherford, 87, of Suwanee, Georgia passed away January 25, 2019.  She leaves behind four sons: Donald Jafroy Griffin (Nancy Cook) of Durham, NC, Darrell Lynn Griffin (wife Bernice Griffin), Dean Gordon Griffin (wife Teresa Griffin) and Dave Stuart Griffin (wife Gail Griffin) as well as one stepson, Rusty Rutherford (wife Sherri Rutherford).  She was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Boyd Griffin as well as her husband, Harold Young Rutherford and two sisters Betty Jo Jones and Jean Askew. Barbara also leaves behind ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and other extended family.

Born and raised in Fulton County the daughter of James and Arabella (Hayes) Hudson, Barbara was a resident of the Atlanta area for the majority of her life. She was proud to be a working mother, but her greatest joy came after retirement when she began taking care of her grandchildren as babies and also after school as they grew up.  Their beloved ‘Gramie’ was a warm and loving grandmother that helped give her grandkids the best possible foundation to learn and grow.

A memorial service will be held at Collins Hill Baptist Church in Lawrenceville, GA at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 3^rd, 2019.  In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Collins Hill Baptist or to the charity of your choice.
