Charles Rabun Perteet, passed away on January 24, 2019. He was born in 1922 in Wiley, Georgia and lived in the Atlanta area for over forty years. He retired from Egleston Hospital in Dekalb County. He was a Christian and a member of the Clayton Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Army and served for thirty-three months in combat in North Africa, Naples, Anzio, Casino, and Rome, Italy during World War II, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He is an enrollee in the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and exploring the back roads of the National Forest near his home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Birdi Perteet of Wiley, Georgia; his daughter, Dale Perteet King, of Dekalb County, Georgia; two sisters Martha Ayers, of Marietta and Ruth Parrish, of Otto; one brother, Dwight Perteet, of Tiger.
His survivors include his loving wife of sixty years, Virginia McLeod Perteet, of Tiger; his sister in law, Lorene Perteet; two nieces, Kathy Holcomb and Barbara Wilson; nephews Ellis Holcomb, Kirk Perteet, Charles Parrish and Horace Ayers.
The family wishes to acknowledge the special help and care they have received from Judy Turpin, Regina Holbrook, Bonnie Thompson, Michelle Busby and Dana Stegall.
The family will receive friends on January 25, 2019 at the Beck Funeral Home from 6:00pm until 8:00 pm at the Beck Funeral Home in Clayton.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday January 26, 2019 at the Beck Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 am with the Rev. Joey Thompson officiating.
