Mr. Wallace Charles Dodd, age 79, residing on Rock Road in Mt. Airy, Georgia passed away Sunday, January 20, 2019 at the home.
A son of the late Bern Carl Dodd and Ethel Smith Dodd, he was born May 9, 1939 in Stephens County, Georgia. He lived for most of his life in Stephens and Habersham counties. Mr. Dodd was a United States Army Korean War Era Veteran. He was a logger and one of the owners/operators of Dodd Brothers Logging, where he worked alongside his family for nearly thirty years. He later worked for Yearwood Logging for a number of years. Mr. Dodd was a member at Currahee Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Gail Thomas Dodd, by three brothers, Clinton Dodd, Gene Dodd, and Carl Dodd, and by two sisters, Arbutus Brewer and Lavon Smith.
He is survived by his significant other, Virginia Riggins, four sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Teresa Dodd of Baldwin, Ga., Richard and Judy Dodd of Martin, Ga., Mitchell and Kelly Dodd of Toccoa, Ga., and Doug Dodd of Mt. Airy, Ga., seven grandchildren, Mandy Graham, Brian Dodd, Scott Dodd, Adam Dodd, Cary Nicholson, Walker Dodd and Ireland Dodd, three great grandchildren, Ryker Dodd, Katherine Graham, and Konstantine Graham; sister and brother-in-law, Eula and Ernest Kinney; a number of nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2019, 2:00 P.M., at the Hillcrest Chapel of The Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Reverend Dennis Ledford officiating.
The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers, Keith Dodd, Stanley Smith, Michael Dodd, Chad Ivester, Jonathan McClain, and Pete Moore. Pallbearers, please meet at the funeral home no later than 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The family will be at the home on Rock Road, Mt. Airy, Ga., and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday evening. Please visit www.acree-davisfh.com to leave condolences for the Dodd family.
Interment will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens following the funeral service. The Patriot Guard will provide a military service appreciation escort to Stephens Memorial.
