Nelle Edge Addington

Mrs. Nelle Edge Addington, age 98 of Nancy Street, Toccoa passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the Stephens County Hospital.

A daughter of the late David C. and Rosa Friar Edge, she was born in Stephens County, Georgia where she lived most of her life. She was employed with the First Baptist Church for a number of years where she was a member, having served on a number of committees and as the church librarian and was Church Woman of the Year in 1996. She was also employed with Athens Presbytery for a number of years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Addington, son-in-law, Walter Bailey and by three sisters, Mary Lou White, Billie Rider and Martha Harden.

Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Carol Bailey of Occoquan, Virginia and Lynn and Dick Lancaster of Emporium, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Stephen and Brenda Bailey, Jennifer and Rob Grossi, Elizabeth Bailey and Owen Simpson and Marc Lancaster; great-grandchildren, Katherine Bailey, Clara Bailey, Jack Simpson, Stella Simpson, Matthew Grossi and Benjamin Grossi; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Laverne Cox of Toccoa.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 19, 2019, 11 O’clock a.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend David Ritcey officiating.

The family will be at the home on Nancy Street and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Friday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Online condolences can be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Nelle Edge Addington.
