Dorothy Josephine (Jo) Bart Tucker

Dorothy Josephine (Jo) Bart Tucker, age 88, of Sugar Hill, GA, passed away January 4, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Robert Paul Tucker; parents, Henrietta (Etta) Louise Rey Bart and Joseph Bart; four sisters; one brother. Mrs. Tucker is survived by her three daughters (sons-in-law), Paula Jo Tucker Horne (Richard), Sugar Hill, GA, Laura Marie Tucker, Buford, GA, Susan Michele Tucker (Douglas Smith), Auburn, GA; four grandchildren, Kimberly Lauren Horne Jurgensen (Scott), Lt. Carson Joseph Horne, Connor Paul Horne, Tara Michele Lockridge; sister, Evelyn Bart McCabe, Canton, GA; numerous nieces and nephews. 

Mrs. Tucker was born June 27, 1930, in Atlanta, GA. She graduated from Murphy High School, Atlanta, GA, in May 1948 where she was a member of the National BETA Club and played saxophone in the school marching band. She loved playing softball and was great at the position of shortstop. Mrs. Tucker was a homemaker and of the Catholic faith. She worked for Hartford Insurance Company, then retired to raise her family and assist with her mother’s floral business, Etta Bart Florist. 

Visitation will be held at Flanagan’s Funeral Home, 4400 South Lee Street, Buford, GA, Wednesday evening, January 9, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm EST. Vigil prayers and the Rosary will begin at 7:30 pm EST.

A funeral mass will be held Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 11:00 am EST at the Catholic Church of St. Monica in Duluth, GA, with Father Jack Durkin officiating. A lunch reception will be provided at the Church immediately after the mass.  Interment will follow at Honey Creek Woodlands, Conyers, GA.
