Dorothy Jones, 82, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday January 2, 2019 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Born February 12, 1936 to the late Arvel and Ruth Greenway, Dorothy had been a resident of Lumpkin County for most of her life. She was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church where her husband served as a deacon. A proud, devoted and gifted homemaker, she enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking and taking care of her family. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Lonnie D. Jones and brothers, Curtis Greenway and Carlton Greenway.
Surviving are her daughter and son in law, Pennie and Lloyd Fowler of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Hailey Fowler, Adam Fowler; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Louise Greenway, Pat Greenway, Mildred Gaddis, Ruby and Jerry Barron, Christine Jones, Cecil Jones, Boyd “Bo” and Ruth Jones, Kathryn Jones, all of Dawsonville, Gary Pendergrass of Gainesville, Roy Saine of Dahlonega; a number of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday January 6, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Mill Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Tom Stradley will officiate. Interment will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Dawsonville.
The family will receive friends on Saturday January 5 from 12 noon until 8 p.m.
