Mary Jo Riley Reed

Mrs. Mary Jo Riley Reed, age 89 of Pendergrass, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 with her family by her side after an extended illness. 

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Reverend Darin Cain, Reverend Dwayne Ryals and Reverend Robert Nix will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home. 

Mrs. Reed was born June 4, 1929 in Candler, North Carolina to the late William Hardy Gaddy and Mabel Gay Taylor Gaddy.  She graduated from Lyman Hall High School and retired from Milliken Gainesville Mill Plant where she worked for over 25 years.  Mama was a member of Dewberry #2 Baptist Church, where she taught primary Sunday School Class and Bible School for numerous years.  She was also a member of the Women’s Circle and the Sunshine Class.  Jo was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wiley Reed, her beloved son, Danny Riley, the father of her children, George Riley, brother & sister-in-law, Emmett and Jean Gaddy, brothers, Roy Gaddy and Ernest Gaddy, sisters & brothers-in-law, Jessie Mae & Charlie Quattlebaum and Mollie & Jack Loggins, brothers-in-law, Clarence McDonald and Tom Osborne.    

Mrs. Reed is survived by her son, David Riley of Florida, daughter & son-in-law, Kathy & Mike Clark of Gainesville, daughter-in-law & husband, Debbie & Bob Brookins of California, Maryland, sisters, Eva Jane Osborne of Carnesville, Georgia and Helen McDonald of Dahlonega, Georgia, sister-in-law, Betty Jo Gaddy of Lula, nephew/son, Terry Gaddy and grandchildren, Michelle & John Hopkins, Josh & Brandy Clark, Bryan & Kristen Riley and Shannon Clark, great-grandchildren, Dylan, Dawson & Shelby Dunn, Camden & Laci Riley and Mckenna Clark, soon to be great-great-grandchild, Davis Cole Dunn.  Also survived are very special family members whom she loved with all her heart, W. H. & Helen Wofford, JoAnn O’Kelly, Margaret Ann Barnett, Tony & Wanda Norris and Chuck & Janeen Saye and numerous nieces and nephews.
