Catheleen Maria Cantarella Matheson (Cathy) was born in Bronx, NY on March 29th 1953 and passed on December 30th 2018. She is survived by the love of her life of almost 50 years Barney Matheson. Also, surviving her children Vanessa & Dean Digiacomo, Jennifer Matheson, and Bryan & Joanna Matheson. The highlights of her life her grandchildren Andrew Matheson, Kylee, Isabella, Addisyn and Brody Matheson, Jordan Graham, and Danielle, Gina, Dean and Nicholas Digiacomo. Her beloved mother Theresa Cantarella. Her wonderful sister and brother-in-laws Doris and Rob Fleming. Kelly & Chris Banham, Danny Fleming, Kathryn Fleming and several other nieces and nephews she hold dear to her heart. Her dear friends Bernadette Ramos and Jeanie Schwabedissen, as well as many more family and friends.
From her days at Ladycliff Academy and meeting Barney at a high school dance, to starting a family and moving to Poughkeepsie, NY to finally settling in Buford GA, she loved working at Hess Dept. Store and numerous Hallmark Stores, then retiring so she could be a stay at home mom and grandma. She was a member of St Monicas Catholic Church where she volunteered and was a Eucharistic Minister. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and loved being at the beach with her family and watching her grandkids play. Her best accomplishment was getting to be a grandma.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to be made to the Shepherd Center, 2020 Peachtree Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30309
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Catholic Church of St. Monica with Father Jack Durkin serving as Celebrant. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
