James Paul Witt

Obituary Date: Monday, December 31, 2018

James Paul Witt, age 85, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2018 in Cumming, GA. He was born in Forest Hills, NY to Otto & Catherine Witt.  He met the love of his life, the late Amelia Witt (nee Zaharis), while she was dancing with the NYC Ballet. They married July 16, 1960 and settled in Kings Park, NY then River Vale, NJ. James spent time in the armed forces during the Korean War. He then began his career as a lithographer which he did for almost forty years.

James was happiest when surrounded by his family, especially his 9 grandchildren. James enjoyed painting, gardening and reading in his free time. He also loved to cook. He will be remembered for his caring, and generous spirit.

He was pre-deceased by his wife of 58 years, Amelia, who passed away in March, his brother Joseph Witt, his sister Catherine Cartolano and his son-in-law Peter Weise.  He is survived by his children, Peter (Kerry), Catherine Ferraro (Greg), Stephanie Weise, Lizabeth (Stephen Mixon), Paul (Doug Geller); grandchildren, Sarah, Kelsey, Benjamin, Nicholas, Brandon, Chloe, Sophia, Alex & Tyler; and many nieces and nephews.

The family greeted friends from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at McDonald & Son Funeral Home in Cumming, GA.
