Charles (Chuck) Weist

Obituary Date: Wednesday, December 19, 2018

Charles (Chuck) Weist was received by his Heavenly Father on Dec 19th, 2018 after a long and blessed life while surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Chicago on May 27th 1929, he was a graduate of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.  Chuck was a proud veteran who served in the Korean War as a tank commander.  After his military service, he was employed by American Express for 37 years, which is what brought him to Germany in 1956.  Chuck met his wife Mathilde while living in Germany where he also raised his family.  As Vice President for military travel worldwide, Chuck enjoyed traveling seeing much of the world during his lifetime.  He loved to eat and enjoyed a wide variety of foods, but especially loved German Bratwurst and Weisswurst.

In 1975, Chuck moved his family back to the United States living in Pomona, New York and then moved to Georgia in 1988 where he retired.  In his retirement years he kept a busy schedule always serving the needs of others.  He was a member of the Windward Association of Retired Men (WARM), Usher for North Point Community Church, served Meals on Wheels, was active in the VFW and contributed to many charities dedicated to bettering and enriching the lives of others around the world.

Chuck was known for his smile, his servant leadership and passion to help and minister to others and will be missed by those he touched and loved.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mathilde; 3 daughters and sons in law, Susan and Scott Knarich, Karen and Tom Ferris, Christina and Doug White; 8 grandchildren, Crystal, Daren, Christiane, Tara, John, Ian, Seth and Nissa; and 4 great grandchildren, Beatrice, Adalynn, Louisa and Jaxon.  Chuck loved his family and made a point of bringing the family together as often as possible. As the patriarch, he set the example for how to live, love, laugh and praise God for generations to follow.  We were all blessed to have had him in our lives.

He loved the Lord and is now in his eternal home in the arms of Jesus.
