Gigi Murphy

Gigi Murphy passed away on Tuesday, December 11th. She was born in Lawrenceville, Georgia on February 16, 1961 to Bill and Anne McClure. She graduated from Oglethorpe University with a degree in Education. She then obtained a masters and specialists degree from the University of Georgia. Gigi dedicated her life to counseling students from all walks of life for more than 25 years. She put her heart and soul into her work and touched thousands of lives. 

She met the love of her life, Tony Murphy, at Oglethorpe University in World Civilization class and they enjoyed a marriage of 34 wonderful years. They were soulmates and she will be deeply missed by him. She was a wonderful mother to Catie Meadows (Sam) and Kara, and loved her grandchildren J.A. And Will more than anything in this world. She also loved her nephews, sisters, and all of her extended family.

She was an avid runner and animal lover. Most of all, she was a light in this world that can never be replaced. 

Funeral service will be held Sunday, Dec. 16^th at 2:00 PM from Homer United Methodist Church with Rev. David Collins and Rev. Jim McLendon officiating with the interment following at Banks Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday night from 5-7 PM.
