Jesse Thomas Wells

Mr. Jesse Thomas Wells, age 94 of Lancaster, South Carolina and formerly of Toccoa passed away Monday, December 3, 2018 at White Oak Manor, Lancaster, South Carolina.

A son of the late Thomas Joseph Wells and Mattie D. Howe Wells, he was born February 20, 1924 in Carnesville, Georgia having lived the greater part of his life in Stephens County and the last two years in Lancaster, South Carolina. He was retired from WABCO with 40 years of service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Toccoa and the Men’s Breakfast Club. His passions were his love for family and golf. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 70 years, Lizzie Lou Manley Wells who passed away in 2013.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Judy Wells Bowers and husband, Douglas of Fort Mill, South Carolina; son, Alex Wells of Winder, Georgia; grandchildren, Bradley Bowers of Anderson, South Carolina, Brooke Bowers Thoden of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Jason Wells of Atlanta, Georgia and Rita Wells of Gainesville, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Trevor Thoden and Abigail Thoden; sisters, Dora Lee Ayers of Toccoa and Minnie Roach of Athens.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 6, 2018, 2 O’clock pm. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Dr. John Brown officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Bradley Bowers, John Thoden, Tommy Ayers, Teddy Ayers, Larry Mealor and Hugh Chatham.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Thursday from noon until the service time. Online condolences can be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Toccoa, 333 E. Tugalo Street, Toccoa, Georgia 30577 in memory of Mr. Jesse Thomas Wells.
