Flossie Skelton Black, age 100, of Demorest, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 29, 2018.
Mrs. Black was born on May 13, 1918, in Demorest, Georgia, to the late Alvin and Maude Skelton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence M. Black; daughter, Trudy Broome; brother, Lewis Skelton; grandsons: Kenneth Todd Black, Marty Ray Black, and Michael Broome; granddaughter, Janice Creason; and great-granddaughter, Amy Creason. Mrs. Black was retired from the textile industry and a member of Chattahoochee Baptist Church. She loved working in her garden. Flossie was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Holder, Mt. Holly, NC and Joanna Swonger of Weatherford, TX; son, Kenneth Black of Demorest; sisters, Dot Edwards of Demorest and Margie McCollum of Clarkesville; grandchildren: Tammy Wright, Sheila Burbick, Trina Mewborn, Sharon Camp, Robin Ferrell, Lori Naylor, Steve Swonger, Belinda Fincher, Stacy Black, Tracy Pilkington; and many great and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Chattahoochee Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. All family and friends should meet at the church at 1:45 p.m., prior to the service.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
