Shirley Higham Patten

Shirley Higham Patten, age 79, of Demorest, GA  passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018. She was preceded in death by her son Richard Patten.  She is survived by her husband of sixty one years, Jerry R. Patten, Demorest, GA; Children, Pamela and Rick Nusbaum, Cedar Rapid, Iowa, Michael R. Patten, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, Debi and Gerald McKendree, Flowery Branch, GA, Michelle and Bryan Nixon, Lilburn, GA; grandchildren, ten; great-grandchildren, seventeen;  mother, Alice Witte Higham, Leneta, Kansas; brothers, Douglas and Sandy Higham, North Richland Hills, TX, Michael and Leanna Higham, Bolin Green, OH; sister, Elizabeth and Ray Higham, Leneta, Kansas and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Mrs. Patten was born May 5, 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa.  A 1957 graduate of Norwalk High School in Norwalk, Iowa.  She was a retired secretary from Tull Metals in Norcross, GA, she also worked in banking. She was a member of Cumming Iowa Christian Church. ”she was dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed” by her family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home, with Rev. Bill Walen officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northeast Georgia Hospice in memory of Shirley J. Patten.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2018 prior to funeral service.
