Joseph (Joey) William Pugh went to be with God on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2018. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, several and uncles and his cousin, Richie Pugh.
Joey is survived by his mother, Nell Pugh; his father and step-mother, William and Diane Pugh; his sister, Angie P. Owens, and his step-sister, Jennifer Sanders. He is also survived by his aunts, Daisy Pugh, Mary Pugh, Linda West and Cathy Gooch; his uncles, John D. Pugh and his special friend, Imogene Smith, and Tony Bennett; and a step-niece, Lillian Nelson. He also leaves behind may beloved cousins.
Joey was born in Cumming, GA on August 2, 1968 and was proud to call it home all of his life. He attended Forsyth County High School where he made friendships that would last a lifetime. Most of his working life was spent with NAPA Auto Parts in Cumming which later became O'Reillys. He spent many years there helping people, talking about cars, and making new friends.
Joey had a life-long love for sports, especially for the Braves, the Falcons and the Bulldogs. He loved spending time with his boxer, Reese.
Joey will be remembered as a man who loved God, who was the best son a mother and father could ever have, and a man who loved his friends and family with all his heart.
He will also be remembered for his incredible strength and dignity during his extended illness. He didn't lose his battle--he won the war.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 25, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 12:00 to 3:00 and 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
The family would like to thank Allan Williams, Vince Pendley and Longleaf Hospice for their compassionate care of Joey and would like to also thank Dr. Fernando and his staff, Georgia Cancer Institute and Northside Hospital Forsyth for all their efforts and care.
