Elizabeth Brooks Langston, age 80, of Buford, GA passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2018. Her husband of 61 years passed away just 10 days later. Frank Thomas Langston, age 84, of Buford, GA passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018. Their long marriage was a testimony of their love for one another and their family.
Mr. and Mrs. Langston were preceded in death by their son, Edmund Earl Langston. Mr. and Mrs. Langston are survived by their daughters and sons-in-law, LoriAnn L. and Lewis Chaffin Jr., Pendergrass, GA, Kristen M. and Christopher Hasbrouck, Dallas, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Thomas and Carla Langston, Pfafftown, NC, Robert Roland and Kathryn Langston, Loganville, GA; grandchildren, Jon Langston, Andrew Langston, Stephen Langston, Savannah Langston, Thomas Langston, Timmy Langston, Megan Chaffin, Ryan Chaffin, Devon Hasbrouck, Jake Hasbrouck.
Mrs. Langston was born September 27, 1938. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmund and Nelta M. (Cairnes) Brooks. She attended Dekalb College where she received her nursing degree. Mrs. Langston retired from Scepter Senior Living in Snellville, GA. She also worked at Button Gwinnett Hospital, Eastside Medical Center, and at Buford Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Langston was a member of Buford First United Methodist Church, where she taught the 4-year-old Sunday School class for many years, as well as serving on the Preschool Board. Mrs. Langston was a member of the Effie Wood Circle and was a Care Group Leader. She also sang in the choir. Mrs. Langston served as a Stephens Minister. She was a very dedicated worker for Vacation Bible School at the church. Mrs. Langston was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Mr. Langston was born July 23, 1934. He was preceded in death by his parents John Vivian and Ida G. Langston, sister Mary Sue Marshall, and brother Timothy E. Langston. He is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law Virginia May and William Metzler, Greenfield, MA and Helen V. and Jesse Coggsdale, Bolivia NC, brothers Jarrett V. Langston, Clearwater, FL and John E. Langston, Jacksonville, FL. He graduated from Maury High School, Norfolk, VA in 1952. He enlisted and served in the Virginia Army National Guard January 1954 – January 1959. He was employed as a System Specialist for Visirecord Systems for many years. He later worked in printing before retiring. His love of music led him to be a founding member and President of the Gwinnett Choral Guild. Mr. Langston was a member of Buford First United Methodist Church and taught 4 year olds in Sunday School. He was a member of the church’s building committee and sang in the choir. He was a big supporter of the Buford Methodist Youth Group.
Mr. and Mrs. Langston were married September 6, 1957. A joint memorial service will be held for Frank T. Langston and wife, Elizabeth Langston on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at the Buford First United Methodist Church with Pastor Jim Buckman officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Buford First United Methodist Church, Preschool or the Youth Group, P. O. Box 329, Buford, GA 30515, in memory of Frank and Elizabeth Langston. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
