Samuel "Sam" Smith

 Samuel “Sam” Smith, age 72, of Dahlonega, GA and formerly of Buford, GA passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allan Braxton Smith and Margaret Ann Smith; brothers, Allan Smith and Doug Smith; and sister, Alice Smith Dickerson. He is survived by his wife of fifteen years, Debbie Smith, Dahlonega, GA; sons, Samuel A. Smith, Jr., Broken Arrow, OK and Bobby Smith, Broken Arrow, OK; four grandchildren, Hannah Sue Smith, Gavan Bobby Smith, Samuel A. Smith, III and Mackenzie Katherine Smith; sister, Ann Smith Thompson; sister-in-law, Diane Martin Smith, Flowery Branch, GA; and numerous nieces, nephew and cousins. Mr. Smith was born July 17, 1946 in Buford, GA. He was a graduate of North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, GA. He was retired from the U. S. Army after twenty-three years of service as a Ranger. He was owner of Smith Son’s Enterprise, Inc., a landscaping business. Mr. Smith was a member of the Buford American Legion Post 127 and a life-time member of the National Foreign Wars. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Ferguson officiating and Mr. Jeff Smith giving the eulogy. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, GA with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, November 19th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
