Mrs. Elizabeth Harrington, age 105 of Gainesville, passed away on November 16, 2018.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Riverbend Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Maxey Ladd and Rev. Joe Payton will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00pm on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel.
Mrs. Harrington was born on July 26, 1913 in Sparta, Georgia to the late George P. Askew and the late Fannie Lou Roberts Askew. She was a homemaker, loving and precious mother and a devoted wife for 65 years. She was the last surviving Charter member of Riverbend Baptist Church and Charter member of the Altrusa Club of Gainesville, which was responsible for organizing the Hall County Girl’s Club. She loved her church and church family. She was an amazing and Godly woman who continued to be active in her church and community. One of her greatest joys was doing for others. She touched the lives of many and leaves a legacy of love and service that will live on in the hearts of those she loved and of those who loved her.
Along with her parents; Mrs. Harrington was preceded in death by her husband Y.J. Harrington; daughter Michael Daneen Acres; sisters Elma Simpson and Jo Wheeler; brothers Jamie Askew and George Askew; son-in-laws John Adler Hulsey, Jr. and Jerry Armour.
She is survived by her daughters Betty Hulsey, Patricia O’Kelley and Kay Armour; son John Harrington (Karen); grandchildren John A. Hulsey (Amy), Ashley Minish (Ron), Chris Wilsdon (Diane), Karen Swing, Jerry Armour (Melody), Kerry Armour, Alan Armour (Tiffany), Jenna Pridgen (Rocky) and Cody Stephens; also close friend Gary Lacey.
