Alice Jean Anderson Butler, age 87, of Dahlonega passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018. She was born in Lumpkin County on September 4, 1931.
Alice worked as a food inspector for the U.S. Department of Agriculture where she retired in January of 1991. She was of the Christian faith and was a member of Concord Baptist Church in Dahlonega, GA. Alice spent many years of her life traveling the country with her husband of almost thirty years, D.L. Butler. She was friends with all and never met a stranger. She loved crafts and loved to bake. She made everyone that entered her home feel welcomed.
Alice was preceded in death by her mother and father Joe B. and Mary Davis Anderson; husband D.L. Butler; daughter Patricia “Pat” Robinson Grizzle; brothers Doyle and J.B. Anderson; sisters Cona Ravan, Verbie Butler and Bonnie Burgess.
She is survived by her grandson Lamar Grizzle and his wife Mandy Grizzle; great-grandsons Jared and Daniel Grizzle; great-granddaughter Allison Grizzle Honeycutt and her husband Chris Honeycutt; great-great-grandchildren Dylan and Rylee Honeycutt; nieces Doris Burzynski and Beth Elliott; nephews Jerry Burgess and Ronnie Anderson; several great nieces and nephews; a special care-giver of six years, Karen McKee; and Purple Gunter, who was like a daughter.
The family would like to thank Northeast Georgia Hospice and the Resting Nest of Gainesville for being so helpful and loving to Alice in her last days.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, November 17, 2018 in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate and a eulogy will be given by Mrs. Karen McKee. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
