Mr. Robert Franklin Phillips, 80, of Royston, GA passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at the St. Mary’s Hospice House in Watkinsville, GA.
Mr. Phillips was born in Royston, GA on January 2, 1938, son of the late Boyd Cleveland Phillips and the late Bigia Royston Phillips. He was the former owner and operator of Pennywise Shopping Center and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Phillips; sisters, Guynelle Brown and Betty Ann Carr.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Carter Phillips; son and daughter-in-law, Wallace and Lesia Phillips of Athens, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Steven Bridges of Royston; sister, Irelle Ray of Lavonia, GA; grandchildren, Chelsea and Sam Stewart, Carli Phillips, Candace and Lee Tomlin, Ryan Phillips, Tyler Dowell, Justin and Madison Bridges and Ryan Bridges; and great grandchildren, Mesa Tomlin, Cooper Tomlin, Makambry Bridges and Maklain Bridges.
Funeral services for Mr. Phillips will be held in the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2018, with Rev. Vernon Dorminey and Rev. Andy Bond officiating. Entombment will follow in the Franklin Memorial Gardens in Royston.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Phillips, Tyler Dowell, Justin Bridges, Ryan Bridges, Lee Tomlin and Sam Stewart; and former Pennywise employees will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening. The family is at the home.
