Barbara Blanton Allen

Barbara Blanton Allen, age 75 of Gainesville, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2018 surrounded by her family.

Barbara was born in Rome, Georgia but lived most of her life in Gainesville, Georgia. She was a member of Gainesville First United Methodist Church.

Barbara was a graduate of Gainesville High School and Brenau College. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She retired from the Department of Family and Children’s Services after 34 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents Alvin E. and Sara Wilkes Blanton.

She is survived by her husband Rudy Allen; son and daughter-in-law Wil and Suzanne Owen; daughter and son-in-law Amy and Clarke Barton; daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Chris Hines. Barbara is also survived by her grandchildren, who were so special to her and brought her so much joy, Wilder Hines, Grace Anne Barton, Kate Barton, Ben Owen and Merrill Hines. Also surviving are her cousins Leslie and Gejuan Wilkes; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Phillip and Carol Allen; nephew Tyler Allen.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Gainesville First United Methodist Church. Rev. Scott Hearn will be officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Gathering Room.
