Kendall L. Todd., Sr, passed away on October 30, 2018, after a brief illness at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
He was born in Toccoa, Georgia on March 20, 1935, to Gertrude Brackett Todd and Kendall Claudis Todd. He was married for 61 years to the love of his life, Latrelle Sheriff Todd, of Eastanollee, Georgia. Their union blessed them with four children who were his proudest achievements. He was “Papa Todd” to 7 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
He was proud of his humble beginnings and a native son of Toccoa, Georgia and was honored to have been elected and served as City Commissioner and then Mayor in the 1980s. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Toccoa where he served as Training Union Director. He served in the Georgia National Guard, was a graduate of Toccoa High School, and attended Piedmont College. He enjoyed a four-decade career as a plant manager for several furniture manufacturing companies in the Southeast. He also was the owner of two successful businesses, Atlantic Pit Service and Disposal Solutions, in Lawrenceville, GA.
He was an avid reader and believed everyone should learn something new every day. He was a die hard UGA Bulldawg fan, but nothing made him happier than to attend one of his children’s or grandchildren’s sporting events. He loved spending time with his family at their lake house on Lake Hartwell, where an afternoon of boating and fishing was a delight. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Harold C. Todd, Helen Todd, Mildred Todd Davis, and Margaret Todd Cunningham.
He is survived by his wife, Latrelle Sheriff Todd, and his children, Beth Todd (Melissa) of Hoschton, GA; Mickey (Tom) Schilling of Milton, GA; Ken (Gina) Todd of Homer, GA; and Amy (Kevin) Barrentine of Dunwoody, GA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Catherine Schilling Turner (Josh), Jackson Schilling, Ian Burnstine, Kate Burnstine, Alex Burnstine, Cooper Todd, Carson Todd, and two step-grandchildren Callie and Annie Barrentine, and great granddaughter, Rose Turner. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
