Fred Alfred Watson

Mr. Fred Alfred Watson, age 86 Toccoa passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the Stephens County Hospital.

Mr. Watson, a Toccoa legend was born July 6, 1932 to Fred P. and Emma Watson in Middlesboro, Kentucky. He served in the United States Air Force before working for a railroad company until fate led him to Toccoa, Georgia. Starting with a small garage, he ran his own business, Watson Tire, Inc. for 52 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, collector, dog-lover and reader. And more than anything, he loved socializing with his best friends (most of the town) at the Elks Club and at church, where a special seat was reserved just for him. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and also attended the First United Methodist Church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a member of the Elks Lodge. His generosity to others and love for his North Georgia town were an inspiration to those around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and loving sisters, Theresa Beaty, Ruth Watson and Martha Gastineau.

He is survived by his nephew, Jobie Gastineau and niece Sarah Head; his former wife, Jacqueline R. Watson and step-daughter, Tannahill Keymer and her husband, Simon Keymer; his beloved grandchildren, Daire, Hope and Hector.

Memorial services will be Monday, November 5, 2018, 2 O’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Dr. Henry Fields, The Reverend David Ritcey and The Reverend Dr. John Brown officiating.
