Wilburn Andrew Pinson
June 26, 1923 – October 26, 2018
After a brief illness, Mr. Wilburn Pinson, 95, of Gainesville went to be with the Lord Friday, October 26, 2018 at his residence while surrounded by loved ones.
Mr. Pinson was a lifelong resident of Hall and Forsyth Counties and an Army Veteran of World War II. He was the son of the late A.P. and Sallie Whelchel Pinson. Mr. Pinson worked as a research machinist at Lockheed Martin Aircraft in Marietta and was most proud of his work on the first vertical aircraft, the Hummingbird, as well as the C-5A and C-130. Though he retired from Lockheed after 33 years, he was best known as a dairy, poultry and cattle farmer. Mr. Pinson was also an avid gardener and enjoyed blessing others with his bountiful harvest. Because of his love for people and strong work ethic, Mr. Pinson bagged groceries at J & J Foods for 15 years until age 85. Hard work, sacrificial love and a generous heart defined him. He was a deacon and member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he served for more than 50 years.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Randall Pinson and wife Dr. Lynn Satterfield; son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Donna Pinson; daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Kelly Parham; grandchildren, Audrey Berzak, Russell Pinson, Dr. Brandon and Cherish Pinson, Jordan Parham, and Cameron Parham; great-grandsons, Nathan and Max Berzak; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Glen Waldrip. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A special thanks to caregivers, and now family, Doris Gunter, Elaine Holyfield and Lynn Leblanc for the exceptional love and care given to both mama and daddy these last nine years.
Mr. Pinson is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of almost 70 years, Floy Pinson; brother, John D. Pinson, Clyde Pinson and George Pinson; sisters, Ellen Irene Pinson, Eula Mae Bagwell, Lounell Holcomb; sisters-in-law, Cordelle Pinson, Mauline Pinson and brother-in-law, J.H. Holcomb.
