Mr. John “Johnny” Ray Childers, age 64 of 2151 E. Silver Shoals Road, Toccoa passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 at his residence.
A son of the late Charles Ray Childers and Lois Simmons Childers, he was born July 16, 1954 in Stephens County, Georgia where he lived all his life. He owned and operated Childers Construction and Pre-Cast Tanks. He was a member of Tugalo Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge 309, Shriners and part of the Mill Creek Family. He enjoyed Bar-B-Que cooking competitions and was an avid joke teller. His grandson, Jase was Papa’s Little Buddy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles “Moogy” Childers.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Becky Carter Childers; son, Jake Childers of Toccoa; grandson, Jase Childers; sister-in-law, Peggy Childers; nephews and nieces, Anna Carter, Devin and Dulce Carter, Thumper Childers, Justin Carter, Peyton Carter (Rebecca), Scott and Tiffani Carter, Patrick and Teresa Carter, James Carter, Brittney Carter, Katia Marie and Richard Carter, Kori and Melanie Carter and Rae Carter.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 9, 2018, 3 O’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Harris Pressley officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Jesse Henry, Karroll Ward, Trey Brock, Heath Henderson, Justin Hixson and David Tugman. Honorary pallbearers will be Jake Childers and Jase Childers.

Interment will follow in Tugalo Baptist Church Cemetery with graveside honors by the Masonic Lodge 309. Acree-Davis Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. John “Johnny” Childers.
