Emory Vance Morris, Jr., age 92, of Mt. Airy, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 6, 2018.
Mr. Morris was born on October 19, 1925, in Habersham County, Georgia; a son of the late Emory Vance Morris, Sr and Mary Lillie Armour Morris. He met his wife, Mary Lou Fricks Morris on the other side as promised, just four days after her passing. He was a member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Morris was a United States Army Veteran, proudly serving his country during World War II.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Steve Spillers of Conyers; son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Tina Morris of Mt. Airy; sister, Joyce Morris Webb, of Clarkesville; grandchildren: Michael Morris, Tracy Maloch, Matthew Spillers, Joshua Spillers, Cody Morris, and Dakota Goode; and eight great-grandchildren, including three great-grandsons that carry his name.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 pm on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Hazel Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Burrell and Rev. Trent Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Army, the Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post 7720, the American Legion Post 84, and the Rabun County DAV#15. Masonic Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Mount Airy F. & A.M. Lodge #141.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 8, 2018, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
