Darrell Ivey

Darrell B. Ivey, 71, of Pendergrass passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Hopewell Baptist Church.  Rev. Bill Compton and Pastor Justin Twiggs will officiate.  Interment will follow in Belmont Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Memorial Park Funeral Home on Monday, October 8, 2018 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Born on November 3, 1946 in Gainesville, GA he was the son of the late Jay Belvin and Onedia Bell Ivey. Mr. Ivey served in the United States Marine Corps spending 13 months in Vietnam. He worked for the Gainesville Police Department, then the Hall County Sheriff’s Department for 23 years, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant. After retiring from Hall County Sheriff’s Department, Mr. Ivey worked for and retired from the University North Georgia.  He was a member of the Johnnies Hill Masonic Lodge #748.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ivey is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ivey.

Mr. Ivey is survived by his daughters, Kelly Barton (Greg) of Gainesville, Lori Watson (Gabriel) of Blairsville; son, Jay Ivey (Crissy) of Gainesville; special companion, Barbara Walls; grandchildren, Ivy and Natalie Barton, Reid, Savana and Jerin Watson, Gage, Jolie and Judson Ivey; sister, Brenda Dye (Harold) Cullman, AL, Jan Underwood (Charlie) of Pendergrass, Shelba Merritt (Wayne) of Gainesville and a number of other relatives.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in memory of Darrell Ivey be made to Belmont Baptist Church Building Fund, 3635 Belmont Hwy, Gainesville, GA 30507.
