Emmitt Harold Adair

Obituary Date: Wednesday, October 3, 2018

Funeral services for Mr. Emmitt Harold Adair, 78, of Gainesville, GA, previously of Cumming, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Memorial Park Chapel in Gainesville, GA.  Following the service, Mr. Adair’s ashes will be returned to Ashburn, GA the place of his birth, by his son, Major James Edward Adair.

Mr. Adair passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018 following an extended illness.

The son of the late Bunyon Adair and Perelee Wynn Ferrell, he was born in Turner County, GA where he resided for most of his youth. He was a graduate of Turner County High School, and of the University of Georgia with a degree in Business Management.

He established and served as co-owner/President of Southern Security, which was located in Cumming, GA for over 20 years. He also served for over 20 years as a volunteer in the Forsyth County Detention Center and was recognized by the Georgia Sheriff’s Association as Volunteer of the Year and was also recognized by the Georgia Detention Center Staff Association as Volunteer of the Year. Mr. Adair was a member of First Baptist Cumming.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Ann Glass Gibson-Adair of Gainesville, GA; his sons,  John Harrison Adair of Cullman, AL and James Edward (Sarah) Adair of Richmond Hill, GA; his step-daughter and step-sons, Christine Gibson Cosper of Gainesville, GA, William Carson Gibson, III of Lawrenceville, GA and Michael Glass (Mary) Gibson of Braselton, GA; and his grandchildren, Chad and Stephen Adair, Aiden Webb, Caitlin and Carlee Cosper, Michael B. and Alex Gibson.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Association B.A.D.G.E. (Benevolent Association Dedicated to Giving to the Employees) Program. B.A.D.G.E. provides support and assistance to the men and women of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, when our unsung heroes find that they themselves are in need of help.  Contributions can be sent in honor of Harold Adair to Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, B.A.D.G.E. Program, 525 Tribble Gap Rd., Suite 1827, Cumming, GA 30028.
