William (Billy) Lanier Hughes

Mr. William (Billy) Lanier Hughes, 79, of Oakwood, Ga, passed away on Tuesday September 25, 2018 at Boca Raton Florida Regional Hospital.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday October 02, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park South Cemetery. Reverend Ed Saye will officiate the service. The family will receive friends on Tuesday October 02, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

Mr. Hughes was born in Gainesville, Ga January 08, 1939 to the late Claude W. and Eva Hughes. He was of the Baptist Faith and worked as a painting contractor for many years. He was a veteran of the Air Force stationed in Germany. Preceding him in death were two brothers, Harold and Alvin Hughes and two sisters, Bernice Fortner and Linda Hughes.

Survivors include brothers, Ray Hughes and wife Frances of Blairsville, and Johnny Hughes of Flowery Branch. Also, sisters, Hazel Roosevelt of Olney, MD and Alice Sanders of Gainesville, a special caregiver and (adopted) daughter Samia Zadeh of Boca Raton, FL., and many nieces and nephews.
