James Odell Coker

Mr. James Odell Coker, age 83 of Aviation Drive, Toccoa, GA, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at his residence. A son of the late Earl and Lula Vaughn Coker, he was born January 31, 1935 in Banks County, GA having lived most of his life in Stephens County. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Korea and retired from Coats American as supervisor. Odell was a member of Hill Street Baptist Church where he had served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, Mission Team and cut grass for the widows and disabled as long as he was able. He was a member of the Gideons International, he worked with the Literacy Council as a Tutor and worked with Tugalo Gas for several years. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by sisters, Bertie Roberts and Betty Manley, and brothers Howard and Glen Coker.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years Doris Caudell Coker of the home, sons and daughter-in-law, Stuart Coker of Toccoa, Stacy and Shannon Coker of Toccoa, Grandchildren, Jared Coker of Toccoa, Kaylee Coker Murdock and husband Zachary of Waleska, GA, William Coker and Dasha Coker both of Toccoa, step-grandchildren, Sgt. Dustin Ledford of Jacksonville, NC, and Paula Brooke Ledford of Toccoa, brother-in-law Roy Manley of Dry Branch, GA, brother-in-law and sister-in-law William “Billy” Caudell and Becky of Alto, GA, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the Hill Street Baptist Church with the Reverend Paul Jameson and the Reverend Paul Garrison officiating.
