Edith M. Williams of Gainesville, formerly of Roswell, GA, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed away on September 27, 2018, at the age of 96. Born in Clarkesville, GA, September 11, 1922, she was the daughter of the late George and Ora Morrison.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Lester Williams, her son, Larry Williams and her 9 siblings. She is survived by her daughter Debbie Williams Cortjens, son-in-law Leo Cortjens, grandson, Alex Cortjens, his fiancé Megan Emery, grandson Rudy Cortjens, his wife Lauren, and great grandsons, Hunter and Ashton, as well as many special nieces and nephews, and members of her second family, the Wall Clan. In addition to her immediate family, she was an adopted Mom to many.
Edith grew up in the Baptist church and was a charter member of North River Baptist Church in Roswell. She was involved in many leadership positions, always putting her Lord first. She was the Mother, Mother-in-Law, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and Friend everyone wanted to have.
Graveside services will be held at Arlington Memorial Park, in Sandy Springs for immediate family. A celebration of her life will be at 3:30 on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel, 989 Riverside Drive, Gainesville, Georgia. Dr. Dee Shelnutt will be officiating. The family will hold visitation from 2:00 until funeral hour.
