George Cochran

Obituary Date: Thursday, September 27, 2018

George W. Cochran, 90 of Murrayville, Ga. passed away Thursday September 27, 2018 at the Bell-Minor Nursing Home following a recent illness.

Mr. Cochran was born in Hall County on March 10, 1928 to the late Kater Lee Cochran and Elizabeth Pearl Green Cochran.  Mr. Cochran retired after a long career with Parks Lumber Company and Builders Mart Corporation.  He also built and renovated houses and properties for many years.  He enjoyed gardening and growing vegetables for his family and friends far and wide.  His greatest joy was planting, growing, picking and preparing corn, beans, squash, peas and tomatoes for anyone who wanted them.  He also enjoyed restoring antique Ford Cars as well.  Mr. Cochran was a member of First Baptist Church, Gainesville, Ga.  His love of gospel music was unsurpassed and he enjoyed singing with different choirs and groups through the years.  He loved his breakfast and lunch groups until declining health prevented him from attending.  He was a blessed, happy man, living with his wife Joyce until after suffering a debilitating stroke.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Joyce Grant Cochran and their son, Reg Cochran and one brother, Henry Cochran along with many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family members.

Mr. Cochran is preceded in death by  his siblings, Inez Cochran Sears, Charlie Cochran, Fannie Cochran Lee, and Perino Cochran.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday October 2, 2018 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home.  Rev. Bruce Fields will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Alta Vista Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Northeast Georgia Medical Center and The Bell-Minor Home for excellent care and concern during his illness.  He was blessed with the care he received from both facilities.
