Charles Milton DeLong, 71, of Gainesville passed away on Sunday September 9, 2018.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Gill officiating. Interment will be in Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Blairsville, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Born on September 1, 1947 in Franklin North Carolina, he was the son of the late Ray and Hazel DeLong,
Mr. DeLong served 4 years in the United States Army. He was stationed at Ft. Benning, GA and St. Louis, MO. There he received the National Defense Service Medal, Marksman (M-14), Sharpshooter (M-16). Mr. DeLong was employed at Western Electric and Lucent Technology. He is of the Baptist faith and a member of Springway Baptist Church. He was a graduate of East Hall High School.
Mr. DeLong is survived by his son and daughter in law, Matt and Lori DeLong of Gainesville; son, Mark DeLong of Clermont; son, Mike DeLong of Gainesville; sister and brother in law, Peggy and Steve Roberson of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Emma DeLong of Gainesville, Haley Browning of Gainesville, Kaitlin DeLong of Gainesville, Skye Chapman of Cleveland and a number of other relatives.
