Mr. Wayne Dills, age 64, of Dahlonega passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018.
Wayne was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. He was born on May 1, 1954 to the late Ernest and Donna Mae Southers Dills. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Betty Thomas and brother Wade Dills. Wayne was retired from Fieldale after more than 32 years of dedicated employment. He was a loving man who cared deeply for his family.
Wayne had a nickname for everyone. He was Billy’s/Bull's hunting buddy, Doug’s/Corn's best friend and Wanda’s lunch buddy. Wayne was a friend to all and would help anyone. He would give you the shirt off his back. Wayne had a way to make you laugh and bring a smile when you needed it most. He was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church and he volunteered with the food ministry distributing food to those in need. Wayne loved his church family.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years Jimmie Dills, Dahlonega; daughter Brenda Dills, Cumming; daughter and son-in-law Linda and Jason “Chigg” Dowdy; daughter Mandy Dills; best friend Doug Gilstrap, all of Dahlonega; brothers and sisters-in-law Clayton and Michelle Dills, Billy and Pam Dills, both of Dahlonega, and William and Juanita Dills, Baldwin; sisters and brothers-in-law Rachel and Terry Cochran, Cleveland, Wanda and Jeffery Dockery, Dahlonega, Shelby Dills and Randall Edwards, Maysville, Jean and Carl Bolton, Dawsonville, and Shirley and Allan Saine, Cleveland; sister Brenda Davis, Gainesville; grandchildren Veronica Norsworthy, Felicia Norsworthy, Cale Tallant, Julie and Curtis Mangus, Makayla Norsworthy, Destany Dills Murray, and Christopher Dills; great-grandchildren Adalyn Murray, Briella Murray, Tucker Norsworthy, and Memphis Mangus; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Monday, September 10, 2018 at Antioch Baptist Church. The Reverend Bobby Whitmire, the Reverend Tony Allison, Mr. Marvin Crane, and the Reverend Dan Browning will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM Sunday and 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
